As Europe accelerates its pathway to net-zero aviation and transport, scaling sustainable fuels affordably has become a strategic imperative. Southern Europe — with Spain at its heart — is emerging as a key hub for future fuels, driven by abundant agricultural and biomass feedstock, low-cost renewable power from world-leading solar and wind resources, strategic ports and airports for regional and global distribution, strong government commitment to the green transition, and a fully integrated value chain from feedstock to production and trading.
The European Biofuels & SAF Summit 2026 (#EBSS2026), taking place on 17–18 June in Madrid, builds on the success of the Sustainable Fuels Europe Summit 2025 and highlights Southern Europe’s pivotal role in Europe’s sustainable fuels future. As the region’s only dedicated platform for advancing biofuels and SAF at scale, EBSS2026 will bring together over 600 senior leaders spanning policy, aviation, shipping, logistics, finance, feedstock supply, and fuel production.
